Hand-carved Ponamu Tiki from New Zealand carver Glen Surgenier.
Tiki / Hei-Tiki is an iconic symbol of New Zealand Maori culture and usually be recognised as a taonga(treasure). In Maori myth, Hei-tiki is the first man created by Tane, the god of forest and bird. Thus, as a cultural icon, Hei-tiki pendant can represent the connections to the ancestor, seeking protection, guide and knowledge from the ancestor and hope of good luck.
100% New Zealand pounamu from the west coast. Supplied with a hand plaited waxed cord.
